Scopa, Terre Siciliane Bianco (2025)

Catarratto, Grillo. Sustainable, Organic, Vegan

Scopa is a collaboration between importer, Coeur Wine Co., and a group of organic farming families in Partinico, a hillside town in the Palermo province about thirty kilometers from the sea. The vineyards sit at 440 meters above sea level on sandy, loamy soils, an altitude and soil type that brings a freshness to Sicilian white you don't expect from an island better known for big reds and blazing heat.
The fruit is certified organic, harvested by hand, and handled with minimal intervention: the Catarratto gets 36 hours of skin maceration to add texture and grip, while the Grillo is pressed directly for aromatics. Fermented in stainless steel, bottled unfined and unfiltered.
The wine is light-bodied but far from simple. Pale straw in the glass, with a nose of green apple, apricot, lemon zest, and a hint of almond and fresh herbs. On the palate it's dry and bright, with a pleasing texture from the skin contact and a clean, slightly briny finish. Drink as an aperitivo, or alongside grilled fish, summer salads, and most things that come off a grill.
